Don't Hurt Yourself

Don't Hurt Yourself is an interactive installation about human-induced climate change. I studied the causes and catastrophic consequences of climate change for 8 months while working on this project. I discovered that the people that are willing to work on this issue, are the people who respect our planet as a being.

The Gaia-hypothesis shows us that Earth is one big ecosystem; everything and everyone depends on eachother. It's all about being in balance, and due to the great quantity of greenhouse gases in the atmosfere because of human involvement, our planet is out of balance.

Global warming is our fault and now it's up to us to clean it up and to restore the balance of our ecosystem that is Earth. Nature and humanity aren't two opposite things; we are the same as everything on this planet.

The installation is made with different textiles, the animation is done with After Effects CC and the videomapping is via Resolume 5 and Osculator. People had to keep the installation in balance via a Wii-remote. The installation was shown at the graduation exhibition of the art academy AKV St. Joost in Breda, July 2017 and in Galerie Pouleouff in Naarden from November 2017 - January 2018. Won the Pouleouff publicity price.

Back Off

A project about teaching people to leave animals be.
A movement sensor detects how close you are; the closer you get, the more the animal suffers.

“If you love a flower, don’t pick it up. Because if you pick it up it dies and it ceases to be what you love. So if you love a flower, let it be.Love is not about possession. Love is about appreciation.” - Osho
